Academic Qualifications
Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool holds a PhD in Industrial Pharmacy from University of Kentucky. He graduated from University of Baghdad with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 1978, obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutics from the University of Kentucky in 1986, and was awarded the title of Professor in 1999.

Professional Experience
Professor Dr. Alaa Al-Kashwan currently serves as Chairman of the National Committee for Drug Selection at the Iraqi Ministry of Health, where he contributes to shaping national pharmaceutical policy and ensuring the safety and efficacy of medicines.
He previously served as President of University of Baghdad (2012–2019) and Dean of the College of Pharmacy (2005–2012), where he played a major role in advancing the institution’s educational and research capacities.
Professor Dr. Al-Kashwan has supervised more than 120 MSc and PhD theses and dissertations, published over 80 scientific papers, and led more than 50 studies in the fields of pharmaceutical preparations and pharmaceutics. He has also played a key role in more than 20 national research projects, particularly in drug development and bioequivalence studies.
He actively participates in several professional committees, including:
– Chairman of the National Committee for Herbal and Nutritional Supplements
– Member of the Bioequivalence Committee – Ministry of Health
– Member of the Editorial Board of the American
Professor Dr. Alaa Al-Kashwan has participated in more than 90 international conferences and has provided consultancy services to numerous pharmaceutical industries and regulatory authorities. He has received over 100 awards and certificates of appreciation in recognition of his significant contributions to academia and pharmaceutical policy.
